About The Judge
Founded
in 2000, The Judge is the longest established and leading broker in
Litigation Risk Transfer Solutions. The
Judge very quickly secured a reputation as being the leading After the Event
Insurance (ATE) broker. Our aim is simple - to obtain ATE(and Funding if
required) that is best for both you and your clients. We're independent of any
insurer or funder and so we'll work with you to either find or negotiate
agreements that match your specific requirements. Our extensive panel includes
the leading ATE insurers in the field. We
have a large specialist team including seasoned insurance professionals and
qualified solicitors.
We're
passionate about customer service and are delighted that most solicitors come to

Our Directors
Emmanuel
Gilbert
has over 20 years insurance experience. He has written extensively on After The
Event Insurance (ATE), including the insurance section for the Law Society's
'must have' book, "Conditional Fees - A Survival Guide (2nd Edition)".
He has also spoken regularly on After The Event Insurance, notably at national
conferences for APIL, MASS, AVMA and the Law Society, as well as commercial
conferences for Central Law Training, White Paper Conferences and IBC UK LTD.
James
Delaney
has written and contributed for a variety of legal publications. Having achieved
a Masters in Law and Law Student of the Year Award, James began his career in
Commercial Before the Event Insurance. In 2000 James made the transition to
After the Event Insurance where he has continued to specialise to date. James
left his position as senior After the Event Insurance underwriter in 2005 when
he joined forces with Emmanuel and the team at TheJudge.
James is responsible for the Commercial Dispute Resolution and Litigation
team at TheJudge. He works directly
with a number of the leading commercial litigation firms in the UK arranging
tailored risk transfer solutions, in particular for high cost litigation.
Matthew
Amey,
has spoken on After The Event Insurance and Litigation Funding at Central Law
Training and Lawnet seminars and also regularly contributes to various legal
publications including the Law Society's 'Litigation Funding' magazine.
Following on from Emmanuel, Matthew wrote the insurance section for the Law
Society's "Conditional Fees - A Survival Guide (3rd Edition)". Having
obtained his Law Degree, Matthew began his insurance career in the Before the
Event insurance market. Matthew later became an After the Event Insurance
underwriter during which time he developed a particular interest in Commercial
After the Event Insurance. Matthew joined The Judge in 2005.
